Football For All..

At W.Y.F.C. we start from as young as 3 years old with our partners, Sure Start - Children's Centre  at The Saturday Football Club but don't expect to take it easy by watching your child with our friendly qualified coaches and standing on the touchline with a nice hot cup of coffee from our pavilion, you will be asked to join in with the fun and games as we encourage a positive interaction within the lively 'Little Lions' group.
For those of you who are not familiar with how the age groups are worked out, they are based on whatever school year you are in, NOT on your age.

Under 7's - For pupils in school year 2 Under 9's For pupils in school year 4
Under 8's - For pupils in school year 3 Under 10's For pupils in school year 5

This group leads seamlessly to the mini-soccer development group for 4 and 5 year olds (Reception / Pre-School) which is the ideal environment to learn how to play football. The coaches will take your football development one step further as they look to prepare you for joining one of the newly formed teams.

The 6 and 7 year olds (School year 1 and 2) will then advance to one of the newly formed under 7 teams where you will play non-competitive matches for 2 seasons. This  will give you your first taste of being involved in a team situation where the result result of the games are irrelevant. The intention is to allow your child to learn how to play football without the pressure that can be put on youngsters to win every game. Your child's football development will be monitored by one of the club mentors who will oversee this age group with the managers / coaches and parents with an independent and impartial eye with your Childs development key to his role.

Our 8 year olds (School year 4) will then begin to play competitively in leagues with promotion / relegation at stake as well as the cup competitions to keep the excitement levels up. The final season of mini-soccer will be at under 10 years (School year 5)

The emphasis then moves to 11 a side football for the Under 11's (School year 6) until they reach their final year at Under 16's.
The intention is for those having come to the end of their youth football career will continue to play their football in a Gold shirt with one of the Club's adult teams.

We hope this brief overview give you an insight into what playing for Waveney Youth F.C. is like.

Player Development Centre

Monday night is Player Development night on the all weather artificial training pitch at The Denes High School.

Player development plays a big part in the Club's development plan with dedicated training sessions targeting players within the Club who are not currently in a P. D. C. of a professional Club. The sessions are taken by a group of coaches who are enthusiastic and keen to develop their own coaching skills with a group of players who are keen to develop and enhance their football skills and technique.
If you are a current player in the under 7yr to under 10yr age group, then you are eligible to be considered for the centre. Just contact your team manager or e-mail the Club at enquiries@waveneyyouthfc.co.uk

The Under 7 & Under 8 P.D.C. gets under way on Monday 2nd November. Those selected players will receive additional coaching for an 8 week block taken by Chris Lark (Coaching Certificate) & Shaun Swan (F.A. Level 2 Coach)
