The
5th Lowestoft District, Brownie and Guides Festival of Football took place in
glorious sunshine at Barnards Meadow, Lowestoft on Saturday 22nd April 2006.
This years event was Sponsored by
Electro-Tech (ea) ltd.
and was affiliated to the Football Association as a "Three Lions Festival".
Over 100 girls competed in the Festival who all received a trophy for taking
part and an F.A. three Lions certificate from District Commissioner Wendy
Boyce, with Graham Reid, representing Electro-Tech, presenting the winners
and runners-up trophies.

Over 4 hours of entertaining competitive football saw a new
name on the
Brownies trophy as 2nd Pakefield defeated 2nd Oulton, the winners of the 2000
competition, 3:1.
The Guides tournament was a close run affair with both Semi-Finals and the
3rd / 4th place game
all going to penalty shoot-outs. In a repeat of last years final 8th
Lowestoft
gained their revenge defeating last years winners 1st Oulton.
The festival will be followed up with a 90 minute
taster session on Saturday 29th April at Barnards Meadow for any girls who
would like to play football regularly.
The Club has three girls teams who compete in the Suffolk Girls League and
will
have an additional three new teams for next season, demonstrating their
commitment to girls football in the Lowestoft area.
