York City Girls 0 Waveney Girls F.C. U15A 10 Waveney were very concentrated and dominated the match from beginning. All blocks of the team were in control and left their opponents little chances. A 0-4 half time score was followed by a second half which was played in very difficult windy and rainy conditions. Waveney nevertheless continued as before. E.French managed to deflect York's only chance of the game on the post. The goals came from N.Thomas (5), L.Teicher (3), G.Gooch and S.Reynolds for a convincing win.
SE Scotland XI 5 Waveney Girls F.C. U15A 1 Waveney had the great honour to play against the South East Scotland squad consisting of 20 players with current full internationals and international triallists. Waveney found it initially difficult to adapt to the opponents who were excellent on every position. Nevertheless a solid team effort with most of the team being pushed back into their own half made it difficult for Scotland to get through. E. French in goal made several incredible saves and showed great calmness. The defenders B.Thomas, A.Wilson, M. Burrell and R. Cotterill were perfect in their tackling. It took 24 minutes before Scotland opened the scoring from the edge of the box which was followed by a second after a deflection from close range. Waveney nevertheless composed themselves again but managed only twice in the first half to get out of their own half and keep posession. In the second Waveney managed to open the game up after a few adjustments in the team. The midfielders M.Wilson, S. Knights and G. Gooch managed to start a few countrattacks nevertheless continuing wirth their defensive duties. S. Reynolds had the first chance, but her shot was saved. After 53 minutes Scotland scored a third. In the 54th minute Waveney had their first and only corner of the match which found L.Teicher at the long post who headed home unstoppable for the keeper. Waveney looked for further chances but shortly after Scotland reestablished the 3 goal lead. N.Thomas had her shot from distance stopped with a great save and later had another chance. A Buxton came on to strengthen the attack, but Scotland added a fifth just before the end in a very memorable match for Waveney.
